Toby Greene’s two-game ban for striking has been downgraded to one match, with Essendon now challenging Mason Redman’s dangerous tackle ban before Fremantle’s Andrew Brayshaw challenges an eye contact ban.
The Giants argued Greene’s incident with Geelong’s Patrick Dangerfield was not ‘careless’ conduct, contending that Greene had virtually no time to react and that Dangerfield slipped slightly coming in to tackle and contributed to high contact.
The argument was deemed unsuccessful by the AFL Tribunal relating to careless conduct, but ‘high’ impact was successfully downgraded to ‘medium’, meaning the ban was downgraded from two games to one.
