The Brooklyn Nets have locked down one of the franchise’s three superstars with Kevin Durant signing an extension.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Saturday morning that Durant is close to signing a four-year, $198 million ($270m) maximum contract extension after he becomes eligible on Sunday.

Durant’s longtime business partner Rich Kleiman confirmed the deal on Boardroom, with the Nets superstar declining his 2022-23 player option and instead extend off his $42 million salary for the 2021-22 season.

With Durant committed, the next step for Brooklyn will be to negotiate extensions with fellow franchise cornerstones Kyrive Irving and James Harden.

Both are eligible to sign contract extensions with Brooklyn this off-season.
