Steve Smith has flagged that he could withdraw from this year’s T20 World Cup if it hurts his chances of being fully fit for the Ashes.
In an interview with cricket.com.au, the star batsman opened up on his recovery from tennis elbow, which played a factor in his decision to pull out of this month’s tour of the Caribbean.
He says that tour may not be the only white ball action he misses this year, flagging he could make the ultimate sacrifice in October as he prioritises this summer’s Ashes series.

“There’s still a bit of time between now and (the T20 World Cup), and I’m tracking okay at the moment – it’s slow, but I’m going okay,” Smith told the publication.
