Victoria Police have responded directly to claims made by cricket star Kevin Pietersen that covid positive children are being taken away from their parents.
A viral video from Werribee Police Station on Saturday appears to show a man and his young child being approached by nurses.
The child runs away when nurses get near and the man has to be restrained by police.
Pietersen tweeted “Shame on you @ScottMorrisonMP! This is absolutely DISGUSTING!!!!!”
Victoria Police confirmed to news.com.au that the matter was “a family incident” but that they would “not be releasing anything further for the privacy of those involved.”
However, police later decided to message Pietersen directly on Twitter as the video went viral, clocking up about 2 million views.
Victoria Police said the video “was in no way related to covid/vaccinations or testing”.
