Australia will leave the Caribbean this month with just one T20I win under its belt having lost the fifth and final match of the series on Saturday by 16 runs.
A breathtaking opening 11 overs set up the win for the hosts, who were led by Evin Lewis’ blistering 79 runs off 34 balls.
Australia rallied in the back-half of the first innings as the West Indies went from 2-124 after 10.5 overs to post a total of 8-199.
But despite some early fireworks from Mitch Marsh and Aaron Finch, Australia always looked behind in the chase and lost wickets too regularly, eventually posting 9-183.
The loss gives the West Indies a 4-1 series win, and leaves Australia still searching for answers with just one more T20 assignment, against Bangladesh, before the World Cup.
