The cricket world, bowlers particularly, have been put on notice.
Mere months after breaking Shikhar Dhawan’s under-19 World Cup record for the most runs in a tournament, Dewald Brevis has made another statement that has caught the eyes of some of the game’s best, including AB de Villiers.
Brevis, 19, who earlier in the year hit 506 runs at 84.33 in the u-19s World Cup, smashed an incredible 162 runs off 57 deliveries in an innings that included 13 sixes and 12 boundaries. His century came from 35 balls.
His innings was the third highest T20 score in professional history, with only Chris Gayle (175 off 66) and Australia’s Aaron Finch (172 off 76) hitting higher scores. Albeit, Gayle and Finch’s centuries came in international cricket.
