England and India players were involved in a heated confrontation in the Lord’s Long Room during the second Test match last week as hostilities between the two teams threatened to boil over.
According to the Daily Telegraph in the UK, the tense scenes in the Lord’s pavilion after the third day of play ended were prompted by Jasprit Bumrah’s repeated short-pitch bowling and repeated overstepping during a 10-ball over aimed at Jimmy Anderson.
The players were seen arguing on the way off the field and the Telegraph has revealed that it continued off it too, with Indian players, officials and support staff giving their team a rousing reception as they walked into the Long Room.
The Long Room at Lord’s is usually packed with MCC members and is the point where teams go their separate ways up different staircases, meaning that confrontations there are unheard of.
