Brisbane Lions home ground, Gabba redevelopment for 2032 Olympics, stadium, Showgrounds, Brighton Homes Arena

Brisbane is eyeing three replacement home grounds with the Gabba set to be unusable for up to four years later this decade, reports AFL Media.

The stadium is set for a $1 billion redevelopment in time for the 2032 Olympic Games in Brisbane, likely commencing in late 2025 after that summer’s Ashes Test at the ground.

However that will mean the Lions are unable to play at the Gabba – where they’ve created one of the AFL’s best home ground advantages – from the 2026 season until 2029 or even 2030.
