The NZ Breakers were all smiles after an important victory in their NBL home opener over Tasmania.

Home may be where the heart is, but the road is where the solutions lie for Mody Maor’s New Zealand Breakers through the early stages of the Australian National Basketball League season.

The Breakers have effectively held serve through the first two rounds of the season, following up a meritorious overtime defeat at Melbourne United in week one with a grind-out 71-65 victory over Tasmania in their home opener at Spark on Friday night.

But here’s where it gets interesting for the Kiwi outfit. As much as they loved the chance to tuck away their first home game in 489 days and are relishing the prospect of 13 more to come in a season that finally returns to normal scheduling, there’s more than a touch of familiarity about the next few weeks for the Breakers.
