India will be licking their lips at what they have just seen.

After Australia’s dominant first Test win, Pat Cummins’ men showed they have problems ahead of next year’s tour as they were bowled out inside two sessions by Sri Lanka to lose the second Test by an innings.

Sri Lanka’s turnaround between Tests was extraordinary.

Smashed by 10 wickets in the first Test, a week later Sri Lanka responded by winning by an innings and 39 runs as debutant Prabath Jayasuriya took 12 wickets for the match.

But for all the good Sri Lanka’s win will do for Test cricket, the innings defeat is a massive reality check for Cummins’ men.
