Adam Gilchrist has paid tribute to Andrew Symonds in the wake of his shock death, describing the all-rounder as “a real heart and soul type of guy that really made you happy.”
News broke on Sunday morning that Symonds had tragically died in a vehicle accident on Saturday night outside of Townsville.

It is the second death to rock the cricketing world, as Shane Warne passed away from a heart attack on March 5 while on holiday in Thailand.
Gilchrist, who had played alongside Symonds across different formats and counted him as a great mate off the field, couldn’t believe that one of his closest teammates had died in such a short space of time.
