Rory McIlroy has aired his support for the controversial plans to decrease the driving distances by using a different type of golf ball.
The USGA and R&A recently announced plans for a Model Local Rule which would grand competition organisers permission to enforce the players to use a ball that travels approximately 15 yards less.

The primary reason behind the change is to reduce the increased driving distance of players given the average has slowly but steadily increased over the years.
