Robbie Kruse fails to secure deal with Brisbane Roar, contract talks complicated

The career of Socceroos great Robbie Kruse could be over after he failed to secure a deal with Brisbane Roar.

Kruse, 34, hasn’t played since suffering a serious knee injury while representing Melbourne Victory in an AFC Champions League games in Japan last March.

He parted ways with the Victory in June and returned to his home state of Queensland.

The veteran of 75 Socceroos appearances started training with Brisbane Roar, and seemed set to sign a deal with his former club after proving his fitness.

Former Brisbane striker Charlie Austin last month urged the club to sign Kruse.

“He’d be brilliant for the group,” Austin said of Kruse.
